Our services
From a blocked kitchen drain to a complex drainage problem
Whether it is a sudden emergency or a recurring issue, the best solution starts with understanding what is causing the problem.

Emergency drain unblocking
Blocked toilets, overflowing outside gullies, backed-up waste pipes and stubborn obstructions. Call to explain the symptoms and get advice on the next step.

High-pressure drain jetting
Professional water jetting can clear grease, debris and accumulated deposits when the condition of the pipework makes it suitable.

CCTV drain surveys
Camera inspection helps investigate recurring blockages, possible pipe damage, root ingress and inaccessible drainage faults.

Drain repairs and gullies
The team undertakes drainage excavations, replacement pipework, gully pots and associated repair work when clearance alone is not enough.

Commercial drainage
Support for managed premises, hospitality venues, landlords and commercial properties, including urgent investigations and maintenance.

Specialist and rural drainage

Why choose Peak District Drain Jetting
Proper service. Clear explanations. Real drainage experience.
Paul and his team have helped customers with overflowing drains, difficult-to-trace pipework and repairs requiring excavation. The aim is to identify the cause, explain the options and carry out suitable work.
Customers regularly praise Paul for explaining the problem, responding helpfully and providing fair pricing. The business operates from Macclesfield Forest and travels to customers; it is not a walk-in premises.

Why local drainage differs
Derbyshire properties do not all have the same drainage system
From older village cottages and terraced housing to newer estates, rural homes and working farms, a blocked drain can have very different causes. The best first step is to identify whether the problem is confined to one fixture, an outside gully, or a larger drainage run.
Established homes and altered pipework
Older homes: check the cause, not just the symptom
Extensions, repairs and changes to kitchens or bathrooms can alter drainage layouts. When a blockage repeatedly returns, a CCTV inspection may help locate root intrusion, displaced joints or damage. The age of a house alone does not tell us whether its drains are faulty.

Rural drainage
Cottages, farms and private systems
Some homes and rural businesses rely on private drains, septic tanks or treatment plants rather than a public sewer connection. If you operate one, the Environment Agency’s general binding rules may apply. Paul can discuss the symptoms and whether inspection or specialist drainage work is appropriate.

Understanding the problem
Blocked drain, overflowing gully or surface-water flooding?
Rainwater does not always mean a blocked foul drain
Derbyshire County Council explains that intense rain can exceed the ground’s ability to absorb water, particularly on paved surfaces. Localised flooding may be caused by blocked gullies, overwhelmed drainage or surface runoff; it is not automatically a defect in a home’s private sewer.
If wastewater is coming back through a toilet, shower or inspection chamber, stop using affected appliances where safe and call for advice. If the issue is road flooding or a public gully, report it to the appropriate highways authority.

Practical guidance
Who is responsible for a blocked drain in Derbyshire?
Knowing who owns the affected pipe can save time and unnecessary expense. Responsibility depends on whether the blockage is in a private drain, a public sewer, highway drainage or another watercourse.
Private drains
Drainage serving only your property is normally the property owner’s responsibility. A drainage contractor can help investigate and clear many private blockages.
Public or shared sewers
Check your local sewerage provider. Depending on the area, Derbyshire is served by Severn Trent, United Utilities or Yorkshire Water. Do not assume one provider covers the whole county.
Road gullies and flooding
Public-road drainage should generally be reported to the highways authority. Main-river flood warnings and management involve the Environment Agency; ordinary watercourses may have other responsibilities.
See Derbyshire County Council’s flood responsibilities and drainage and gully reporting guidance. If you are unsure whether the sewer is public or private, ask the relevant water company before commissioning work.

Business premises across Derbyshire
Drainage support for hospitality, workplaces and property managers
A blocked drain at a café, pub, hotel, holiday let or workplace can affect staff and customers as well as day-to-day operations. Different sites have different risks: food-service waste and grease, busy washrooms, outside gullies and inaccessible pipework may all call for different investigations.
Paul’s team has experience with commercial emergency drainage work, including a documented pumping-station incident in Manchester. That is evidence of their broader capability, not a claim that this particular job was in Derbyshire.
For urgent problems, give the team details of the affected facilities, access arrangements and whether sewage is backing up, so they can discuss appropriate attendance and equipment.
Real work. Real equipment.

Questions answered
Common questions about blocked drains in Derbyshire
Do you offer 24/7 emergency drain unblocking?
Peak District Drain Jetting advertises 24/7 emergency call-outs. Contact the team on 07494 689009 to confirm availability, travel time and pricing for your location.
What should I do if sewage is backing up?
Avoid running taps, toilets, washing machines and other affected fixtures where safe. Keep people and pets away from sewage, and call a drainage specialist or the appropriate sewerage company depending on where the blockage may be.
Does heavy rain mean my drain is blocked?
Not necessarily. Surface-water flooding can occur when rainfall exceeds drainage or infiltration capacity. A blocked private gully is different from flooding caused by a public road drain, river or sewer network.
Who is responsible for a shared or public sewer?
Check with your sewerage company; Severn Trent, United Utilities and Yorkshire Water each cover parts of Derbyshire. Responsibility depends on the pipe location and whether the system is privately or publicly owned.
Can you help with a rural property or septic system?
Paul’s team advertises specialist drainage and septic-related work. Call with details of your system. Septic tank and package treatment plant operators should also check the Environment Agency’s general binding rules.
Are you based in Derbyshire?
The business operates from Macclesfield Forest in Cheshire, and provides mobile drainage services across the advertised Peak District and Derbyshire coverage area. It is not a public walk-in premises.
How much will a drain call-out cost?
Cost depends on access, the nature of the blockage, distance, timing and work required. Contact the team for current pricing rather than relying on a generic fixed quote.
